Disclaimer
This page exists because the SEO industry has a reputation problem, and we would rather be plain with you now than manage your disappointment later.
We do not promise rankings
Nobody outside a search engine can guarantee you a position for a search term. Not us, not anyone. A provider who promises you "page 1 in 30 days" is either guessing or lying, and the only real question is which.
Search rankings depend on your competitors, your content, your backlinks, your market, and a ranking algorithm that is not published and changes constantly. Fixing what is technically broken on your website helps. It is not a lever that produces a guaranteed result.
What our score is
Your score is a weighted result across 38 checks. Each check is a real measurement taken from your live site — was the title tag present, did the page redirect to HTTPS, how heavy were the images.
It is not a ranking, and it does not predict one. A site can score 90 and rank badly because its content is thin. A site can score 60 and rank well because it is the definitive resource in its field. The score measures how well your site is built, not how much anyone wants to read it.
What "Skipped" means
It means we could not measure that item — and we will not pretend otherwise.
A skipped check is excluded from your score entirely. It is not counted as a zero, and it does not drag your number down. Some checks need data that only exists once a site has real traffic — Google's field data, for example, which Google only reports once there are enough real visitors to be statistically meaningful.
A tool that quietly scores unmeasurable things as failures will tell you your site is broken when it is not, and you will spend a weekend fixing something that was never wrong. We would rather report less and be right.
Lab data and field data
Where we report performance, we label which is which:
- Lab data — a single measurement we took, from one place, at one moment.
- Field data — what real visitors actually experienced, collected by Google over time.
They often disagree. When they do, believe the field data — those are real people on real connections. We never present one as the other.
Third-party content
Our blog and guides are general information, not advice tailored to your business. Where we link to external tools or services, we do not control them and we are not responsible for them.
